The adidas story

Designed in 1949 as an indoor training shoe for footballers working on frozen pitches, the Samba OG has spent the last few years as the most-copied silhouette in menswear rather than a training aid. Full-grain leather with suede overlays sits on a gum rubber cupsole low enough to disappear under a wide trouser leg, and the gold foil branding is the same detail the original 1950 pair shipped with.

adidas traces its roots to a small German workshop where Adi Dassler hand-stitched cleats in the 1920s, formally incorporating the company in 1949. The three-stripe mark that followed became one of the most recognized emblems in sport, stretched across football boots, track spikes, and the Superstar's shell toe. Decades later the brand's Boost and Primeknit platforms redefined what an everyday trainer could feel like underfoot.
