The adidas story
Cut down from adidas's 1984 basketball shoe, the Forum Low keeps the hook-and-loop ankle strap that once locked players down through a full-grain leather upper with embossed quarter panels. The 6mm rubber outsole and EVA midsole were built for hardwood traction, which is why the shoe still reads as a court silhouette even worn well outside a gym.
adidas traces its roots to a small German workshop where Adi Dassler hand-stitched cleats in the 1920s, formally incorporating the company in 1949. The three-stripe mark that followed became one of the most recognized emblems in sport, stretched across football boots, track spikes, and the Superstar's shell toe.
